STOP CHASING THE MONEY!
Throughout my athletic career, we trained 2-3 times a day 5x/ per week. The tasks were repetitive, making literally the smallest of changes from day to day to our technique, mindset, body, strategy, etc.. This went on for years, months, weeks, days. How did we not lose our minds? We literally did the same thing day in and day out. What carried us through? It took a while to answer this question. I would venture to say it was the passion for the craft. There was natural enthusiasm towards the task. I remember I could practice for hours, go and watch videos to look for new techniques or ways of improving my errors, then go to sleep, get up in the morning and repeat with passion. There was such an excitement in the smallest of improvements. The art took on it’s own form. I was no longer doing wrestling, I now was a wrestler. At this stage, I was giving everything. I was investing all with joy. Joy came from giving it my all. Joy came from the immersion. Joy came from loving every step, the time with teammates, the sauna sessions and inside team jokes, and the time spent with trainers. I was happy to invest all I had. I got absorbed by my craft and I STOPPED COUNTING THE COST. I was all in. That was freedom.. THAT WAS PASSION! The result was the titles came. The goals were reached. But this all happened when I absorbed myself in the process and stopped thinking about only the gold medal. The medal could have been anything. It can be money, prize, etc.. in our lives.
